I purchased a Autel Maxisys 908 last Friday on Ebay from a high reputable seller from China. I need a scan tool for my new job and I had heard a lot of good things about the unit in the past from co workers who used them. I joined this board a few days to get more info about the scan tool and information Diagnosing particular vehicles. Great site by the way but I been reading more complaints than I like to, about how some of the new updates are taking functions away from the tool than improving it. And the high cost of $1200 for an annual update subscription?  Update fee sounds expensive for a tool that can not function 100% the way the manufacturer says it can, sounds deceiving.

I am not bad mouthing Autel, I would like some honest feedback and opinion on how you all feel about your 908? There is more positive reviews than negative on Google and Youtube, those reviews were years back probably when the tool was functioning top notch but I like to know now how 908 owners really feel about their Maxisys.scanner?

The Ebay seller sent me a message today telling me that they don't have any in stock and it will take a little longer(a few more days) until they get more units but would like to ask if I would like to wait for my item or would I like a full refund?

Your opinion will determine my purchase and I TIA for any feedback.

    ,

Ok, I think you need to see things in perspective here.

I have this tool for quite some time and yes, like others I have complaints. But I am using a lot of tools and when comparing MaxiSys with those tools, there is no other with the capabilities that MaxiSys has. It is frustrating that you are missing things or at times there is something that won't work like it should, but overall, I am using this tool as a first choice each and every time so far for all basic diagnostics (for in depth stuff you still need scope or specialised software).

So YES, things like CLIP, LEXIA, etc. are more powerfull in there own brand, but that is what they are designed for, just one brand. MaxiSys does about all of it and a good job on it too. What does not work you can help fixing by sending data logs to Autel so they can rectify any errors.

I for one am really happy with my tool, even though I agree updates are still needed and most likely always will be.

Most important; which country / region are you working in and what car brands do you get most. That will mostly determine what the power of MaxiSys will turn out to be.

Comparing with other tools in my country, 908 does a lot of things, special in BMW, Benz, Ford and Mazda.

Hope I'm not too late but I would recommend you purchase from a US authorized dealer with tool for US market as they'll disqualify warranty for buying a Chinese market model. Call Autel if you don't believe me.

Will describe my expirience this way. You go and buy new car top of the range. Than after few weeks dealer come over and take your wheels off. After another few weeks remove your stereo end so goes on. Was good tool but with every update just getting useless unless you fixing brand new cars and not touching older ones lol

very good description. make sure to lock your hood/bonnet, the engine is next.  mine works great, I use it to check my emails only, have no issues there at all lol.  this reminds me of when I first met my wife about a 100 years ago, everything was fine, nothing I ever did or said bother her . one day I married her and put a ring on her finger, well needless to say she tried putting a bigger ring on my balls, not that they are so big lol, but from that day on my freedom was gone and everything I did or said mattered. don't marry anything in life, the less you care about things the longer they last and the better they work.  stop buying this crappy tools and updates, they are not even worth the headache. by the time you realize the mistake you have made you have wasted a few years of your live, not to mentioned a bunch of money.
